To start off our monthly discussions, I decided to turn to the month of January for inspiration. In many languages, this month is associated with the coldest, darkest period of the year, with a reminder that we must find a way to make it through until spring. For people who struggle with SAD, homelessness, or scarcity, this can be a quite literal difficulty and not just a metaphoric one. Here are some questions to start the discussion off. You may answer all questions, one or two, or none and just expound on the theme. It's your choice! And feel free to discuss with others on their posts.

1. When you find yourself in dark times, what motivates you to keep going? How do you find your inner spark?
2. What resource (physical, spiritual, etc.) are you lacking this month? What are some steps you can take to conserve it?
3. How can you help others through their own dark times this month? Talk about or share some resources to do this!
4. The world can be a dark, exhausting place these past few years: Share one story that helped rekindle your hope!
