On its own, it is a simple meditation in explanation- but when you give each element meaning it transforms into a more advanced form of meditation.
Exactly a month ago, we had the Winter Solstice, which marks the shortest day of the year, and the beginning of the sun’s return to glory as the days begin to lengthen until finally overtaking the dark on the day following the Vernal Equinox. This candle meditation is inspired by that phenomena, as the flame represents new beginnings and the lengthening of the daylight hours.
Just clear their mind and allow the image of the flame to fill that void.
If you are a beginner, simply focus on the flame and its meaning to the exclusion of everything else- just don’t exert yourself.
For more advanced students, somewhere in the middle of your meditation try extinguishing the flame, sitting in darkness, and allow the thoughts to enter you mind. Don't focus on anything, just allow thoughts to enter and leave, as wind enters the hollow of a tree and then exits again just as quickly.
