I wanted to recommend reading this article, including the comments (for once, given most comments are trash). Specifically, I'm going to comment on it from my white viewpoint.

I think watching the protests and listening to all the viewpoints, it's a bit hard to understand how to DO something. The protests are tangible activities that DO things, but they can't be sustained and this needs to be sustained to erase racism. The author asks this question of how all the Likes and profile changes and such can turn into real change, or if it'll all just go back to the same way it's been.

I found it interesting that one of the comments on the article, from a (self-identified) white Canadian, hit on the problem really well:

And then later he says:

This is why it's very hard to fight, and that has been intentional in history. It is baked right into our culture through generations, specifically so a chunk of society doesn't have to be touched by it (to the point of actually believing it doesn't exist) while the rest of society deals with it Every. Single. Day.

We talk a lot here about confronting uncomfortable truths about ourselves, and this is a big one. Between the Light, Dark, and Shadow, we hammer on self-awareness, introspection, and aligning ourselves to what we think is what we want to be. I'm aware that addressing these "seeds" within ourselves means that we're addressing privilege we've benefited from. But I believe we must want to be anti-racist and do something against it constantly, beyond the end of the protests.
