Hello was created by John de Boyd
Good morning and afternoon everyone,
My name is John de Boyd, though you can just call me Boyd. I've had an interest in Jediism, becoming a real Jedi -- whatever you want to label it -- for a few years now. I originally joined Jedi Living and spent a short time going through their recommended approach, though due to a lack of consistency and overall lack of self-discipline, I couldn't or wouldn't maintain my commitment.
I've never lost my interest in becoming a real Jedi, and while it's taken backseat to other things, I want to find a way to recommit and to stay committed with learning and training. I took another one of those surveys that help you find a Jedi community to join, and without any biases in my responses The Force Academy was the recommendation.
So here I am. In my time learning about Jediism (or whatever label you prefer), and by considering my goals and ideals as I look to become a Jedi, I view myself grey or shadow or however FA describes it. With that said, I'm still discovering myself as a Jedi, so my goals and ideals likely haven't fully taken shape. I'm looking forward to being able to take away insight from multiple viewpoints and worldviews while here.
One of my primary reasons for becoming a Jedi is to give a label to my interests in inter-religious and inter-spiritual pursuits. I have a Christian background, but a disdain for what it has become. I see value in worldviews such as Doaism and Buddhism. And I want to continue a pursuit of the spiritual, be that God or consciousness or otherwise, and find the label of Jedi fits this well.
As a secondary reason (or perhaps another one of those primary reasons) that I want to become a Jedi is the desire to be involved in social change and a better world. The fictional Jedi were seen as guardians of peace and justice, and were essentially public servants, so with this in mind becoming a Jedi may be the closest parallel I can find without actually and officially becoming a public or civil servant.
I've rambled on enough. I have quite a bit of writing on my thoughts and interests, but I lack the experience to effectively put them to words right now. My name is Boyd, and I want to be a Jedi. I'm hoping to try and fail and try again to go through some learning and training content here at FA. I'm looking forward to discovering more about this community.
