What makes you a Jedi? What do you do?
The power of the Jedi Path is in the diversity of those who walk it. Do you care to share your story?

Can anything make someone a Jedi? ;p I don't think so. Its why I get upset when people decide to call non jedi people (bruce lee, for example) a Jedi because his ideas echo our own... or our ideas echo his.

Jedi is a choice. A self ascribed title that anyone can and does apply to themselves.

Ascribing it to yourself and being worthy of it? That's a different matter.

What do I do to be worthy of it? Probably not enough. I try to inspire others to be better. (My flow/formwork has and continues to get people up and active. I write my little 'mini lessons' (see above for an example) to not just teach, but to give people a bit of encouragement along the Path. I have my apprentices, but having apprentices is easy. Making them into Knights is the trick. And I do my best to make that an eventual possibility. I actively defend/protect the community by being a moderator where I can. I've been told I've helped my home order, the Conclave, a lot in their starting up year.

But, in the end, im just a guy with a glowstick that just wants to be better than I was. I just happen to help others along the way. And, to me, that's enough.

I try my best. Some days that is sufficient, other days it falls short, but I keep trying.

In concrete terms, I dedicate my time to charitable causes such as my work with St John (Which involves Youth Work and Community First Response) and am part of the Alzheimer's Research Network. I am an active Blue Light Champion as well.

I usually offer a karate after school program at the local secondary school and sixth form, but admittedly, with Covid that has not been happening. I try to run into as cheaply as possible to make it as affordable to as many as I can. I focus on self-defence and sport-engagement, over traditional training and combatives, with these sessions to most suit what the children may need.

Otherwise, my day to day is focused on trying to make a difference in people's lives. To support others towards positive change. I chose a helping profession because that is what I am passionate about and find meaningful.

In all these things I try to keep in mind the deontology of the Jedi Way. To hold myself to account to the Virtues I profess to believe in as a Jedi.

I try to foster the Jedi attitudes. I think about the 3 pillars and the Jedi code for some life situations. I think on the idea of being a Jedi, how Obi-Wan and Yoda lived. I try to remember how things are connected. I provide support on a Facebook autism help group.
