What is the opposite of happiness? Sadness? No. Just as love and hate are two sides of the same coin, so are happiness and sadness. Crying out of happiness is a perfect illustration of this. The opposite of love is indifference, and the opposite of happiness is - here's the clincher - boredom. - Tim Ferriss, The Four Hour Workweek
I find myself back at FA, not out of existential angst - like might have happened 20 years ago, when I was first introduced to the Force realist community - but out of a need for fun. Things are stable career-wise (stable as can be, all jobs carry the inherent risk of termination at any given time), my family is healthy, and my marriage is running smoothly and happily.
But I want more.
Not because I need it. I simply crave it.
I am currently reading Tim Ferriss's the Four Hour Workweek. I had heard about it before, but I had never been "attracted" to the idea of working less... I still am not. While I was searching for ways in which to do more with my available time, I was constantly prompted to use it as a resource. I now realize the essence of the book is not about working less, but about spending less time on "busywork" - unimportant, unimpactful tasks - and learning to delegate, outsource, and simplify, in order to devote time and energy towards meaningful activities.
I am back here because I know I am bound to find people who are going through or have gone through this experience. Even if that isn't the case, I certainly can count on this community to call me out whenever I am falling short or trapped in self-delusion.
Accountability is the name of the game.
