I sometimes fail to understand how simple things can be We are always on the run, trying to achieve this or that in the quickest way possible, but when we final achieve what we want, things seam to somehow lose their value and we start to search for other things
why does this happen?
Because we are trying to feel complete with things outside ourselves. but when we get them, we realize that something is still missing, so we search for more things. And this search never really ends, because we cant be complete with things outside, we must learn to look inside, to be MINDFUL!
This word is very used these days, but what is to be mindful?
To be mindful is to realize your inner self, is to be aware of your emotions, your thoughts, your feelings, and this is very simple to do, i think nothing can be more simple than just change your awareness to yourself and observe, with this simple change you will be able to stop blaming the world of everything and maybe see that you are not quite as you expected, and instead of be always defensive of an unfair world, you might realize that you too are very often unfair to yourself and to others, and this may bring a lot of emotions.
In this process you must be SERENE, because if you are not, you will fail to learn the lessons that your emotions are trying to teach. Emotions are a great teacher, but not for you to follow them, you should question your own emotions, trying to find out the reason for them to be.
So, I think SERENITY is one of the most important things, because you will be able to see all of those emotions like anger, rage, or fear without being clouded by them.
In our paths we sometimes forget how simple things really are, we search for others approval when we most of the time don't approve ourselves and things are as simple as to look inside.
i will give you a story from Buddha that i really think is great to show "simple"
Buddha met an ascetic who had practiced austere living for 25 years. Buddha asked him what his reward had been for all of his hard work and effort. The ascetic proudly told the Buddha that now he could cross the river by walking on the water. Buddha let the ascetic know that this wasn't a significant achievement for all of his hard years of effort because he could all along have crossed the river on a ferry for one cent.
