This concept is a rather advanced one, and for it to make any sense whatsoever a person must be attuned to the world around him.
So for those reading this who are not, I am going to take my time and try to bring everyone up to speed.
Many people today are centered only in their minds, in their thoughts resides their world. Their illusions, and their environment.
Therefore they generally have no idea of the true outside world. Not one that is interpreted, fore by nature, all things interpreted give up the truth of their nature. In order to take the sense of Being from the Mind and allow it to experience the outside world, there are two methods. One is the Moonlit Path, which that post has been made a few days ago and its procedure is fairly easy to follow given practice. The other procedure is known as centralization, or the cultivation of Hara.
When cultivating Hara it is important to let yourself become emerged in, if not worldly things, then things of a natural or physical nature. Do not allow yourself to be caught up in the meaning of things, do not let yourself dwell much farther then your eyes reach, in essence restrain the amount you use your mind so that it takes in only the world around you. Not your thoughts.
When you can successfully come to view the world around you without the intervention of your mind then you can very simply put aside your 'civilized mind' (interpretation is a habit you are trying to get out of). The reason for doing this is simply because your mind can be put to other uses then trying to discover why things work.
In this essence of centralization you reach a point known as the void. It is the same state that Getsumei No Michi is designed to bring you to. While in the void the world takes on at first a very bland tone. Since you observe everything and no longer look into anything then you are at first bored.
A funny thing about the mind is, is that it cannot rid itself of finding patterns, it is an eternal function of the mind. So while people are in this state of pure observance, patterns do begin to form. Thus one discovers the beat of Kokoro or the breath of the Force.
This is where a Shadow gains their true power, where they gain the subtle advantages over their world that in times of distress can ensure that you make it to see your next meal. By observing these patterns, WITHOUT TRYING TO INTERPRET THEM, you will begin to discover which 'beats' produce which affects. That is the point at which 'signs' become important to you. Reading the subtle signs of life can render great rewards.
The key to being able to see these signs though is to remember to observe without trying to understand.
Getsumei No Michi and Centralization (Haragei) are two methods by which to achieve entrance to the void (State of no mind) in which one can view the breath of the force, and then with time, follow it home and with even more time...learn to guide that breath.
